Rise for Justice: "Urimaikaaga Ezhu Thamizha" Protest Announced in Brussels on June 23, 2025

Brussels, Belgium – The Tamil diaspora is set to unite once again for justice, remembrance, and the call for self-determination. Under the powerful banner “Urimaikaga Ezhu Thamizha!” (Tamils, Rise for Your Rights!), the Tamil Youth Organisation and the International Council of Eelam Tamils have officially announced a major protest in front of the European Union headquarters in Brussels on June 23, 2025, at 11:00 AM.

This demonstration is part of the ongoing global campaign demanding justice for the genocide of Tamils by the Sri Lankan state, and the recognition of Tamileelam’s right to self-determination. The movement continues to draw attention to the historical and ongoing oppression faced by the Tamil population in the island of Sri Lanka, calling for an international independent investigation and decisive action by global institutions.

The protest will take place at the Place du Luxembourg, directly in front of the European Parliament. Organizers are urging Tamil communities from across Europe to gather in large numbers, standing united in their demand for justice and freedom.
